Stour Valley u3a, whose river is the border between Suffolk and Essex, is part of the National U3A network providing members with opportunities to broaden their horizons; involving themselves in new learning experiences; meeting and making new friends; developing skills in social, sporting and academic arenas. Members share their talents with others creating a truly self help organisation. Currently over 500 local members enjoy this experience.
In the main, membership is drawn from communities in the lower Stour Valley and adjacent areas; this includes Brantham, Capel St Mary, Dedham, Holbrook, Shotley, Lawford, Manningtree, Mistley, Raydon, Stratford St Mary and East Bergholt where our monthly lectures are held. We also welcome members from further afield.
We encourage lifelong learning for those who are no longer in full time employment and those retired from work altogether. Emphasis is always placed on making learning active and fun as well as helping in developing friendships. We do this by offering a wide range of nearly 40 activity groups - language study, walking, table tennis, art workshops, wine tasting, garden and historic buildings visits - see the GROUPS Page. Members join as many as they wish.
There are links to recent Newsletters on the NEWS page, which give a taste of our activities and you could come to one of our MONTHLY COFFEE MORNINGS on the first Friday of the month at Lambe School in East Bergholt.

The Membership fee is just £15 for the year. This entitles members to join as many of the activity groups as they wish and to attend the monthly lectures held on 2nd Wednesday of each month normally in The Constable Hall, East Bergholt.
Please note: If you are a full member of another U3A, you can join Stour Valley u3a as an Associate member (£10 per year) and membership for those over 90 years is free!
