The Jazz Group continues to welcome new members - an interest in jazz is the only qualification needed. We identify "gigs" which would interest others and then try to build a small crowd from our database. It's working so far. We encourage car sharing and a small drink before any given event (if not driving.)
Recently members attended an excellent performance by Noel McCalla and the Derek Nash Band at Hadleigh Jazz Club. McCalla has had a long carreer in Rock and was the lead singer in Manfred Mann. Derek Nash has been a member of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004 and is also a member of the Ronnie Scotts Blues Explosion.
Another interesting and enjoyable experience at the Ipswich Jazz and Blues Club was the Clark Tracey Allstars performing Stan Tracey's celebration of the work of Dylan Thomas.
